CHICAGO, Dec. 2, 2014 – Clinicians now have an ultrasound solution that helps them meet the goals of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS) Triple Aim with the introduction of the new Aplio™ 300 and 500 Platinum Series from Toshiba America Medical Systems, Inc. This enhancement to Toshiba’s existing Aplio 300 and 500 systems expands the clinical utility of ultrasound, allowing providers to consolidate lines of care onto a single platform.

The Aplio Platinum series provides powerful clinical imaging tools for advanced visualization, quantification and intervention. This includes BEAM, a new technique that improves needle visualization during ultrasound-guided procedures. On the Aplio 500 Platinum, Shear Wave elastography is a new tool to non-invasively measure tissue stiffness of the liver and potentially reduce expensive biopsies, while Superb Micro-Vascular Imaging (SMI) can capture low-velocity blood flow without the need for contrast agents or more invasive modalities.

“We understand our customers’ business and enhanced our premium radiology systems with new technologies and improved existing ones like Smart Fusion and Fly Thru,” said Tomohiro Hasegawa, director, Ultrasound Business Unit, Toshiba. “The Aplio Platinum Series offers our customers a patient-centric system that expands the clinical utility of ultrasound and provides a safer, less invasive and more cost-effective solution.”

The Aplio 300 and 500 Platinum Series will be introduced at this year’s Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) annual meeting in Chicago, Nov. 30 – Dec. 5, 2014 (Booth #7333, North Hall).
